Since it opened in 2010, I’ve been in love with the Red Hat Amphitheater, our 5,000 seat downtown Raleigh entertainment venue. Sitting literally steps away from the Raleigh Convention Center, it has become one of the highlights of living in the city. It’s not that it’s built to attract the biggest shows (it isn’t), or that it has the most modern entertainment venue features (it doesn’t). It’s the fact that it allows downtown residents to enjoy a lot of cool and diverse concerts from Spring to Fall within walking distance, such a great way to spend an afternoon or evening in our city!
The 2013 concert season at the Red Hat Amphitheater just started this past May 2nd with a performance from rock legend Bob Dylan, followed by the Smashing Pumpkins a couple of days later. While we didn’t attend those two, we had our concert debut with the Alternative rock band Imagine Dragons last Wednesday May 8th. It was a really, really cool experience. We had lawn tickets for this one, which are usually really good although I recommend coming in early so you can pick your spot on the lawn.
We made this video to show some highlights from the Imagine Dragons concert and the venue, so those who haven’t been there can get an idea of what it’s like!
We also took a bunch of pictures, so hopefully they give you an idea of what the venue’s like, and how much fun people there are having.
