I seriously hope you didn’t miss this one! It was so much fun to see the thousands of people coming to Fayetteville St last Sunday, which happened to be Mother’s day too. I don’t know if it was the weather, the promise of a delicious meal, or simply the fact people can’t stay away from downtown, but it was amazing.
The food truck debate seems to have fizzled in Raleigh, not too long after the City Council approved them with restrictions in the city. We really have come a long way in the last couple of years, and it seems the community is really enthusiastic about the diversity and choice they bring to the Raleigh food scene.
Of course, if you wanted to eat in your favorite food truck, well, you might have had to wait in line! The most popular food trucks had lines that at times were up to an hour or more long. We saw lines in Chirba Chirba, Klausie’s Pizza, Parlez Vous Crepe, American Meltdown, Only Burger, Urban Street Grill and others that were astronomical. My suggestion to everyone? Try a new food truck! Most food trucks have really good food, even the lesser known ones.
My favorite truck, of course is Klausie’s! Before taking any pictures or video, we walked over directly to it, and were able to get a couple of humongous pizza slices. Oh so good. Thank you Mike!
We created a short fun video of the event! It really shows you how many people were braving the lines, trying to enjoy some fantastic food. I hope you enjoy it
Also, here’s a bunch of photos that Manuel took of the event. He actually got Every Single Food Truck, all 40+ of them! Click on any of the pictures to enlarge and to scroll through the entire slideshow!
